Shimada Whisky (Smoked)
This is a rarity in the world of Japanese teas: a smoked black tea. It comes to us from the town of Shimada in Shizuoka Prefecture. Concerned about the environment and health, the producer, Mr. Matsumoto, uses an ancestral method of ecological fertilization for his gardens, Chagusaba.
Inspired by the classic Chinese Lapsang Souchong tea, this one produces a much finer and more aromatic result. Its taste is closer to that of a good Scotch thanks to the fact that the leaves were smoked for 6 to 8 hours using wood chips from Japanese whisky barrels.
The liqueur has a rich texture and powerful sweet and peaty aromas. The tea, however, is particularly smooth, without bitterness, and has a pleasant tangy finish.
A great non-alcoholic option for your food pairings.
